Panhale Kaji Caves


The rock cut carving reflects history and culture of that period. You will find Buddhist as well as Hindu religious sculptures very similar to Ajanta caves. At least two hours are required to take a complete watch of 29 caves. These carves contain idols of Ganapati, Saraswati, pictures of Horse Ridders, Solders, Lord Krishna, Lord Shiva, Nataraaj, Shravan, Humayoon & Lord Buddha. There is one fort called Pranaldurga on adjacent hill. By its name this place was previously known as Pranaldurga. Kotajaee River embraces the thick forest lies on adjacent hills where you can experience a beauty of jungle and can see the variety of birds.


Hot Water Springs – Unhavare

The delightful Unhavare village is famous for its natural hot springs. It is nestled deep in the heart of a beautiful valley on the bank of a picturesque river and is surrounded by undulating hills, majestic forest and rolling farm land.


The boiling spring water bubbles up from deep inside the earth and cascades down into a series of three rock pools and gets cooled by a breeze coming from the river. The hot spring water is clear with just a faint smell and taste of sulphur. The sulphur is said to have medicinal value and can cure some skin diseases. There are shelters available to people for bathing. The origin of the hot spring is considered as a sacred place and has to be visited barefoot.


On the right side of river is a dense mangrove forest. These mangroves have a threefold advantage - they provide shelter for young fish, stabilize land and form a buffer zone to absorb floodwaters. Located in beautiful natural surroundings, Unhavare is really a must see during your Konkan beach holiday vacations. A bath here is soothing and energizes and invigorates the mind.


Dabhol Port


The Dabhol port boasts of centuries old history. Dabhol was of great importance in the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries. It used to be the principal port of South Konkan region, carrying on trade with ports in the Mediterranean, the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. During 13th to 15th centuries this port was ruled by the Bahamani dynasty and was known as Mustafabad. Later on it was Hamjabad and then it was Dabhol. You can find many religious places of Hindus and Muslims. There is a fine mosque called Shahi Masjid with dome and minarets standing close to the port which was built in Adilshah’s Regime.


Hedavi – Ganesh Temple

This is an excellent temple. Name of this Ganesh is 'Dashbhuja Ganapati'. This 'Laxmi – Ganesh Temple' is not only ancient but also rare. This temple may have been erected in the period of Peshwa. The deity has been founded on the top of Mountain. The Ganesh idol has been carved in white stone. Such stones are found in Kashmir region. The specialty of the idol is that this is 3 feet high and it has 10 hands. This majestic idol is on a seat of 2 feet This idol is very charming. There is big ceremony of birth of Ganesh from Shukla Chaturthi to Shashthi in Magh. There is procession of Ganesh in chariot.


Hedvi Beach

Located at 18 Kms. from Guhagar, Hedvi is famous for its Ganpati Temple, and the beach at hedvi is very beautiful. Near the beach there is a place locally known as 'Baman Ghal', at this place the rocks are cut by the sea water and a george has formed. at the time of High tide the water gushes through the gorge (Ghal) and a water column rises to a height of up to 100 feet in the air.


Guhaghar Beach


Guhagar located at 42 Kms. from Chiplun is a typical Konkani town with a beautiful clean Beach where a lot of people come in the evenings to see the sunset. There is an ancient Shiv temple of Vyadeshwar here.


Vyadeshwar Temple


Shri Vyadeshwar is an ancient temple of Shankar and Vyadeshwar is the 'Kuldevata' of many Chitpawan Brahmin families. The temple is very beautiful and a lot of people visit Guhagar to visit the temple.


Shivshrushti at Dervan

This is a marvelous place in Chiplun, where you can watch the entire life history of Chatrapathi Shivaji Maharajah through pictures and statues. Near about one Crore rupees were spent in construction and it was completed in 15 years . Coronation of Shivaji Maharajah, fight with Shahistakhan , Shivaji riding on horse , etc are some of the notable statutes to watch here. Great social workers like Sitarambuva Walvalkar worked for bringing up of this marvelous place . From visitors point of view Dervan has cultural importance.


Shree Laxmi Keshav Temple at Bivali

This is very old temple located in the western side of Chiplun city.The temple is situated in the dense greenery and the beautiful mountains. The temple is in the Brahminwada. The temple is discovered in the period of Peshwa’s by Neelkanth Shashtri. The statue of the god is beautifully carved in the single piece of the black stone along with the different ten avatars of lord Vishnu. The statue of god is about 2.5 feet in the height.


Siddhivinayak Mandir at Donavali


This temple is situated in beautiful Donavali village. The temple is here from era of Peshwa’s. The temple is built in local Jambha Stone, jaggary and limestone. The statue of Ganpati is carved in marble stone. This temple is built by Thorale Madhavrav Peshwa in 1774. In the front of the temple there is huge Panati (used to light) made bye stone.


Shree Harihareshwar Temple – Gondhale


This Peshwakalin temple is situated in the beautiful Gondhale village. The temple is built in 1696 by Appaji Chimanaji Gondhalekar. The Shivpind in the temple is very rare and the height of it is 1.5 feet and with the diameter of 1.5 feet. There is huge Nandi statue in front of this temple. There is a very old well is in the premises of the temple. This well has 40 steps and has water supply throughout the year.


Savatsada Waterfall – Chiplun

Savatsada is located in the mountain resion of chiplun territoy in parshuram ghat. It is a deliteful place to watch waterfall in rainy season coming from the mountain top the waterfall looks like milk as it is milky white in colour. The entire location of Savatsada is green in rainy season. It is located approx 5 K.M from chiplun city It Is a Tourist spot in rainy season


Ganesh Temple- Ganpatipule

It is famous tourist place in Ratnagiri district. It is famous for it Ganeshtemple as it has a history of around 400 Year Before The Temple is surronded by mountain and big rocks from one side Arabian sea. Since it has a historical importance the Ganesh temple of Ganapatipule. ganpatipule is one of the famous tourist spot in India


Parashuram Temple


It is dedicated to Bhargavram or Parshuram. There is a central shrine surrounded by two smaller buildings. It is a devotional place. This temple is situated near Mumbai-Goa highway. The temple is having an idol of Parashuram in Middle, God Brahma in right and Lord Shankar on the left. 300 years ago Brahandra Swami reconstructed the temple and that time the idols of Gods were consecrated here. The combination of Hindu, Muslim and European architecture is seen in this temple.There is a temple of Renuka, mother of Lord Parshuram, behind the Parashuram temple.

There is a tank called as Banganga Talav which is believed to be made by Parashuram by arching five arrows to the ground. There is a festival every year on the Mahashivrathri Day.


Visava Point - Chiplun


Visava point is created by Chiplun highway division on the Mumbai- Goa highway no. 17. This point is 8 km. away from Chiplun. From this point you can see total Chiplun city a great view of Vashishti river and a great view of nature. Lord Parshuram Temple is near to this point.


Gopalgad Fort – Anjanvel

The Gopalgad fort at village Anjanvel,Taluka-Guhagar,Dist-Ratnagiri is a sea fort with an approximate area of 7 acres . Most of the fort walls are still in a standing condition.Boulders can be seen adjacent to the exterior of the fort walls.The main fort has been extended by different rulers during different times.

The fort is guarded by strong fort walls and has total 12 Buruj ( a Buruj is a cylindrical structure in the wall which enables a small troop of soldiers to be stationed).There are two main gates each to the east and the west.The gate to the west is smaller and convenient to enter the fort.As one enters through this gate one can see the guard posts on both sides of this gate.Inside the fort there are thick bushes and mango trees.But as one moves ahead, various structures are visible, the killadaar's residence, three wells, and many small and big foundations


Talakeshwar Light House

Lighthouse can be seen by the permission of employees working there. You can see very good view of blue ocean from the tower of lighthouse. This lighthouse is built in 1960. This lighthouse is called Takleshwar lighthouse because of Takaleshwar temple.
